Our latest award . . . maybe there’s more to come

The project’s newest accolade was announced on 8 September: the Hantam Community Education Trust is the Northern Cape Community Builder of the Year for 2005. Anja Pienaar and Zou Dingezweni travelled to Kimberley with three other finalists in their category to spend an anxious day in interviews. Winners were announced at a gala function in the Northern Cape Legislature.

Ashoka Citizen-base Initiative Programme

The Hantam Community Education Trust has been chosen one of the 7 Projects to be a finalist in this prestigious Award. The winner will be announced in June 2006.

Ashoka is a global organization that finds and funds leading social entrepreneurs to implement innovative ideas for change in their communities, regions, countries, and continents. They work in six different fields: Learning/Youth Development, Environment, Health, Human Rights, Civic Participation, and Economic Development. Founded in 1980, Ashoka has elected more than 1,500 Fellows in 53 countries since 1982.
